Undone cover and ARC contest!

Well, here's the cover of UNDONE, which is out in January next year. Hope you like? I certainly do.

If you fancy winning an ARC, just leave a comment below with your thoughts about the cover. You don't have to say you like it... honest! I'll pick a winner at random on Monday at 4.00pm BST. And what the hell, let's make this one international.

Good luck, lovely people!

  1. I really want to enter this, but I don't think I should - I had an ARC of TORN, so I feel like other people should get a chance at UNDONE. BUT! That doesn't mean I can't say how much I love this cover, right? My favourite thing about it is the sense of movement. The girl is trembling on the edge with the wind whipping her hair and you get the sense that the long, trailing tendrils on the title font are whipping and coiling in that same wind. It feels like you might see it all start to shift at any second. Really clever design.

  2. I love the way the ribbons of the title curve around the girl's wrists! Those 'interactive' sort of covers always look so nice. :)

  3. I really like how you can feel the scene in the cover - the wind blowing her hair, her toes right on the edge, you want to reach out and pull her back. I can't wait to read it from this cover, which means it's done an awesome job!

  4. Such a great cover! I just love it, for exactly the same reasons that the previous commenters have already mentioned. ESPECIALLY the typography. It's just so pretty!

  5. I really like the motion, it almost feels like you're stood watching the scene unfold in real time. I love the typography, I love purple! Only thing I would say is the lamp post on the edge is quite distracting, it's almost as if it's not sure it wants to be on the cover or not.

  7. It's beautiful! I am a sucker for beautiful covers. YA fiction really has the best covers. I like the little blurb too. Very intriguing. :)

  9. That's a cover that would make anybody walking past your book in the bookshop, stop, look and pick up the book to find out more. It doesn't give anything away about the nature of the book, and has a very definite "pick me up to find out more" look to it!

  12. Hello m'dear!
I don't really think it's massively fair I enter, as I did win an ARC of Entangled so do feel free to count me out.
I ruddy love the cover, obviously; you have THE best cover luck ever. I very much enjoy the whole 'is she falling?' 'is she jumping?' 'WAS SHE PUSHED?!' intrigue.
Either way, I can't bloody wait.

  13. Well... i feel the cover is really interesting different from the other covers i have on my shelf which are close-ups of girls faces,so i was very intrigued to see that this was very different to those but different good cause it has me guessing what the girl is looking at and why her back is to us... hmmm.... i like the lettering very 'undone' like untied shoelace it indeed does suit the title. And so ends my ramble about the cover to enter. (bows)

  14. I actually like the tagline (doesn't happen very often), and the whole cover just pulls you in and raises questions about the plot. Me likes :)

  16. It's gorgeous, so different from the covers of Torn and Entangled but just as pretty. As others have said the typography is beautiful and the girl on her tiptoes in so intriguing. I honestly love it! :)

  17. 'Tis a seriously gorgeous cover. I like that it's a little different to Entangled and Torn's covers and I'm a sucker for pretty typography!

  18. Love the colours of the palette, they feel really stormy and tumultuous making me feel like the story within is going to be utterly gripping (not that I expect anything less from you), also loving the purple underlayer of her dress which I know is a very specific thing to focus on but every time I look at it that's what grabs my eye!

  19. I really like the colours and like how the title wraps all the girl's wrist. It does raise the questions and I would definitely have pick up to see what its about if I had just randomly saw in book shop. It also isn't one of those plain random covers you get nowadays and its just as nice as your other books' cover which are two my favourites.

  25. International yay ! I'm very happy ^^
The cover is not like Torn or Entangled but I like the picture, even if I'm not a big fan of the yellow and purple combination.
Can't wait to read Undone !

  27. I think the cover is awesome! So pretty, and eye-catching. Plus, it also relates to the story, which I love! And hurrah for another novel with LGBTQ themes! :) So looking forward to reading it!

  28. I think this cover is amazing. I love how the title is kind of holding her back from falling. But into what? Ant what's "holding her back"? Canot wait to read it and find out. Just such a beautiful cover. Going to look awesome on bookshelves, right?!?!

  29. I love how you get the feeling that she really is on the top of a tall building, how her hair and the ribbons of the title are being blown around her by the wind. I think the word Undone is holding her back, almost as it its trying to put her together again and I love that it makes me ask the question; Why is she up there? Why is she looking down and what is going through her mind?

Also love that shes barefoot… makes her seem more vunerable and open to hurt, but maybe shes thicksoled and just needs her questions answered?

  30. I would definitely be drawn to this book by the cover. All very intriguing.

  31. I think this is my favorite cover of the year. The cover really makes you wonder why is she up there? Is something holding her back? She seems so hesistant. And the typography is beautiful. I also like how we cant see the chaaracter's face...that helps me imagine her more.

  32. I dig it -- I especially like the font treatment and the way it looks like it's unraveled and undone.

  33. Wow, I am really impressed by this book cover. I guess there is a girl standing on the edge of a brigde and you don't know whether she will fall, jump or climb back. The cover captures a moment where any of these things might happen. The scipt of the title wraps around her wrists like chains but it is wrapped around to loosely to prevent her from falling down. The colours of the sky are quite unnatural and I am not sure whether the sun will coming through or if there will be a thunderstorm. I am really looking forward to read this book as I loved Entangled.
