Let loose

No, not the 90s boy band responsible for this little gem...

A classic, right? But I digress... tomorrow is the start of the Great Entangled Schools Tour. I am being let loose (you see? LET LOOSE!) on the nation's schools. Crazy biscuits.

I realized this morning that I haven't set foot in a secondary school since... well, since I left secondary school. I may be ever so slightly phobic about them, so that should be interesting. I shall endeavour to report back if I make it out alive.

Any pearls of wisdom would be much appreciated.

  1. Pepper speech with reference to the following bands and you should cover all kids. N-Dubz, Tinchy Stryder,Katie Perry, Lady Gaga, Kesha and Diddy. Avoid all references to JLS and Justin Bieber, they may through pencils at you or very expensive phones. If phone throwing occurs, keep and sell on Ebay!

  2. Vivienne - Just to be absolutely clear... you're advising me to STEAL from the nation's youth? *shrugs* Not a bad idea. I have no idea how to talk for more than five minutes without mentioning Justin Bieber. I don't usually manage it.

  3. Tinchy Stryder is played (or has played?) on Weston Pier so you'll get bonus points in my school ... I, however, have no idea who he is!!!! I only know his name because our school ran a competition to win some tickets.
I am sure you'll be great just being yourself, I think kids see through people who try too hard. I am happy to provide chocolate/sweets, whatever you need to settle your nerves, just let me know your favs :0)

  4. Library Mice- Aw thanks! I'll do my best not to try too hard! No need to provide sweets, unless you've got super-chewy toffees that will stop me from talking?

  5. LOL - yes! It upsets me to see teenagers with more expensive phones than mine. My brick has seen better days! Could spot you were a Bieber fan straight away.

  6. Oooh, Let Loose! What a pop-tastic tune Crazy For You is. Just to prove that I've always been ahead of the curve when it comes to popular music, I bought the single when it was first released and only made it to #44 in the charts. It only became a hit when re-released 6 months later.

As for talking to teenagers, having five step-siblings in their teens I should be qualified to advise you on how to communicate with them. Should be. I'm not.
