Tuesday randomness

1. I'm done with TORN... for now. YAAAAAAAAY! I changed a character name, pruned many pointless sentences and swapped some words around. It took approximately FOREVER.

2. This picture of Ethan Embry sort of reminds me of my favourite character in TORN. The hair's not quite right and the eyes are the wrong colour, but apart from that...

3. I'm starting  a new book today. Oh yes indeedy. Please note: I had no intention of starting a new book when I woke up this morning, but these things happen.

4. I have found this song to be strangely inspiring. Don't ask why.

5. My awesome publisher Quercus was named Publisher of the Year last night at the Bookseller Industry Awards. Well played, Quercus.

6. Did I mention I'm starting a new book TODAY?! Holy moly.

What are you up to on this random Tuesday?

  1. My Random Tuesday was meant to Very-Edity Tuesday. Turns out to be 'Update the Website, Tear my Hair out and Scream' day. But it's good to hear other people are having more fun than me. Go the new book!

  2. Haha, I can see the inspiration in I will be Popular - totally my fave from Eurovision (and so very teen!).

  6. Wicked awesome news on Torn. I'm trying to get to the end game on the current WIP. Unfortunately today is laundry. Is it me or does it seems to breed, while we're writing? (Hugs)Indigo

  8. Megha: You know this book might not make it past a few weeks. Or it might become a bestseller. But it's an IDEA, as far as I'm concerned, so it's quite likely that you will never read it. You never know. ;) And if it did get published it would be years before that happened, so hold your horses LOL.

Cat: Yay for Random Tuesday and congrats on finishing Torn... for now, at least. ;)

It's so cool that you're starting a new potential book, and I wish you all the best of luck! However -- and I'm not saying it's wrong in any way, of course -- I was kind of taken aback by the fact that writers -- you're probably not the only one I'm guessing now -- will get an idea in the morning and jump straight into a WIP. For the book I'm writing now I planned for one or two months before I even sat down to write the prologue! (Many failed attempts on that before I could get it just right. ;)) And the plot kept changing as I went along. A few weeks ago I got an idea that totally changed the course of the book -- starting at the climax that I am ABOUT TO WRITE... hopefully today. But I digress. Is it really abnormal to do as much thinking and planning as I do? Because if an idea came to me one day I would have to wait a week or so before it actually became an idea for a very potential book.

To tell the truth, I found "Popular" to be rather obnoxious and annoying -- although I can see why it could be an inspiration. Not trying to offend anyone -- just my opinion. :P

  9. Catnip - That sounds ALMOST as good as starting a new book...

Kristy - I. Can't. Stop. Listening. To. It. Please. Help.

Thanks Theresa! You're right - so many possibilities... maybe too many?

Vivienne - Love the idea of Really Random Tuesdays... alas, my randomness is prone to attack on any day of the week!

Iffath - HOW DID YOU GET HERE?!

Indigo - I have a theory that all tedious tasks multiply when there is writing to be done. In my case it's usually the dreaded ADMIN. Good luck with finishing your WIP!

    Thanks Megha!

Isabel - To put your mind at rest... The idea for the book didn't pop into my head yesterday. It's been brewing for a while, but I had no plans to start it any time soon. And don't worry - it's not abnormal to do a lot of thinking and planning. There's no right or wrong way to approach writing a book - whatever works for you is best. You didn't like POPULAR though? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!

  10. Cat: Ah, that makes a lot more sense. ;) It's interesting, though, how people approach writing in so many different ways... of course there is no wrong way to go about it! :)

Yeah, sorry... LOL. But my favorite song right now you may like... I've been listening to it non-stop since yesterday -- "Fighter" by Christina Aguilera. If you haven't listened then you should... tell me if you like it!!!
